Turkey and the Problems of Empire

http://stream.aljazeera.com/story/trending-against-kurds-turkey-0022311

What I really don't get, is why would you want to govern a people you have no love for?

Nothing short of genocide and forced removal will get the Kurds out of that territorial space within Turkey. And that will come at a heavy price for

the Turks as people would join the PKK to fight against the attempted removal of the Kurds.

Which is how I really don't understand empires or people who make them.

Either include people within your system and govern them through consent, dialogue and mutual respect.

Or don't bother governing over them at all.

It's just land and people that you don't really have then.

And, this is coming from the first country that came out of the European empires.

Why build them when all they do is collapse in the end?

Shouldn't you be more focused on issues at home?

In the metropole?

Where you actually do have legitimacy and authority?

Think about it.

Cause I highly doubt that many people really do.

At their own expense.

Think about it.
