That's the ethic. Both for governing and for medicine.
And we shouldn't accept anything less from our doctors or our elected officials.
When you don't like someone, you go and vote them out, and replace them with another volunteer.
When you don't like them, you go and vote them out.
When you don't like the replacement, you go and vote them out, until you get someone who is actually interested in doing the job that they were elected to do, for their own sake at the very least, for others at the very most.

Cause we end up with a stubborn and ignorant leadership when we don't.
