I say again, in the words of a very wise person.
Anger is just a primitive response to an attack or injury inflicted
upon oneself or those/that which is close to them. The object of the
anger is to make the hurting stop and to ensure that it doesn't happen
again, by making the pain that you experience feel more intense.
While this might have solved some cases in primitive times, it does not
actually dissuade others from hurting you again. It, literally, is
only a bio-chemical reaction of your inner brain that's beyond
consciousness. And it can be very difficult to overcome.
That
said, in practical terms, not responding with violence or violent action
has two effects. 1, it actually ends the cycle of violence. 2, it
really ends the conflict more in your own favor, rather than for the
other you're dealing with. Better to smile, and say "ok then", then to
start another slew of violence.
And, I am talking in the coldest of most calculated terms, beyond that of morals, emotions and all that other fuzzy stuff.
It, literally, is only in your brain that it works differently.
And, we can see from the millenia of human conflict, that that is,
actually, the case in the world beyond your brain, repeatably and
demonstrably, despite what you'd think and despite what you do to make
the effects of your actions be different.
Please.
Do not take my word for it.
Examine it yourself.
Consciously.
And, think about it.
Try it.
It's not easy.
And, think about it, all the same.
Think about it.
