Part of the human programming that makes us special, is that our brain has an override to our instincts and set connections, such that we can actively chose a different path than what's
been set
before in the past, such that we can adapt and improve our personal and
collective lot in a variety of different conditions and situations.
Clearly, Mr. Descartes lived in a world before the understanding of neurons, neurological connections and an improved understanding of mental health and mental illness.
QED, dualism as a hypothesis is dead.
And it's only your brain that prevents you from seeing/understanding/ accepting it, in spite of the evidence that's around you.
Even if you believe that there is something else that's out there, like a soul, it still has to interact and express itself through the neurons that are present within the body.
You can't escape your biology.
You won't escape your biology.
And it's pretty sad that there are so many of us who can't work with this kind of comprehension about themselves and their world beyond the brain, in spite of all the evidence that points to it being otherwise.
Think about it.
Cause I know you're not really.
And you still are, in spite of that not thinking.
Think about it.
